Every year we at Cambridge Imprint make a vast number of paper stars of various kinds for all sorts of decorative purposes. For anyone who’d like to have a personal demonstration of the techniques we use, we’ll be running a small Christmas Star-Making Workshop in our studio in Cambridge this year, on Wednesday 27 November 2024 from 7 to 9 pm.
We will be making three types of paper star: the huge, comparatively simple pleated star, the more modestly sized three-dimensional eight-pointed star and finally the tiny and fiendishly complicated but extraordinarily satisfying five-pointed origami star . Cambridge Imprint founders Claerwen, Jane and Ali will demonstrate some of the possibilities, and then everyone will have a chance to make a few different exemplars of each kind of star. We’ll be using a wide range of our patterned papers for construction. You will be going home with bag full of paper stars that you have made in a variety of colours and patterns to decorate your home, and lots of ideas for more projects. No previous experience is necessary.
We’ll end with seasonal refreshments and we’re looking forward to a cheerful, creative and friendly evening.
There’ll be a small shop with a range of patterned papers and paper craft kits, in case you want to purchase extra supplies at the end.
Our studio is not a huge space so tickets are limited. We inhabit the first and second floors of an old building and unfortunately there is no step-free access. We do have some parking on site.
